UCONN CoGen Power plant & Waste water Treatment Plant Field Trip
I am organizing a field trip for the AP Environmental Science (APES) students to visit the University of Connecticut’s CoGen Power Plant and Waste Water Treatment Plant. This trip is crucial for providing students with practical insights into cogeneration and waste water treatment processes, subjects vital for their success in the APES exam, especially for Free Response Questions (FRQs). These visits will allow students to see sustainable energy production and water management in action, deepening their understanding of these essential environmental science concepts. Participation in this field trip is a requirement for our APES course, underscoring its importance in aligning theoretical learning with real-world application. This experience is instrumental in enhancing students’ ability to critically evaluate environmental systems, thereby enriching their overall educational experience and preparedness for the APES exam.
